THIS IS AMAZING

A white college student from a private college goes into a poor neighborhood and volunteers four hours a week and that’s considered exemplary. [Whereas] a poor kid who lives in that community and takes care of all the kids in that neighborhood four hours every day is not seen as a volunteer. —Patricia Hill Collins (via ethiopienne)

So in my body is a good place to be because functionally speaking, I know at the end of the day that it’s the only home I’ve ever had and it’s the only home I ever will have. So no matter how much I argue with it, at the end of the day I need to treat it like my home. And home is where you’re supposed to feel the safest and home is where love happens and home is where you’re supposed to feel best about yourself. And welcome home. —Meredith Graves (via zeelew1012)
